El Shaddai

El Shaddai (El shad´i)

A name for God used in stories of the patriarchs. Outside of those passages (Gen 17:1; Gen 28:3; Gen 35:11; Gen 43:14; Gen 48:3; Exod 6:3), it occurs only in Ezek 10:5. It is sometimes translated “the Almighty.” See also El.
