Ner (Nuhr; Heb., “light”)

The name of the Benjaminite father of Abner, Saul’s military commander (1Sam 14:50-51; 1Sam 26:5; 1Sam 26:14). Nothing else is known of his life, and his relation to Saul is unclear. Suggestions include that he was Saul’s uncle or grandfather.
