The tree of life

The tree of life

A well-known image deeply rooted in traditions of the ancient Near East. Proverbs also refers metaphorically to a tree of life (Prov 3:18, Prov 11:30, Prov 13:12, Prov 15:4), but the most prominent biblical reference is specifically to the Tree of Life in the Garden of Eden (Gen 3:9; Gen 3:22; Gen 3:24; Ezek 31:8). The NT also takes up the image (Rev 2:7; Rev 22:2; Rev 22:14; Rev 22:19).
