This is the title page from the original edition of the Book of Mormon by Joseph Smith. Written in 1830, the Book of Mormon is the sacred text of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The title page states that the purpose of the Book of Mormon is "to [show] unto the remnant of the house of Israel what great things the Lord hath done for their fathers; ... and also to the convincing of the Jew and Gentile that Jesus is the Christ, the eternal God, manifesting himself unto all nations."
