Ps 84-85

The Joy of Worship in the Temple To the leader: according to The Gittith. Of the Korahites. A Psalm. 1How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord of hosts!2My soul longs, indeed it faints for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh sing for joy to the living God. 3Even the sparrow finds a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, at your altars, O Lord of hosts, my King and my God.4Happy are those who live in your house, ever singing your praise. Selah 5Happy are those whose strength is in you, in whose heart are the highways to Zion.6As they go through the valley of Baca they make it a place of springs; the early rain also covers it with pools.7They go from strength to strength; the God of gods will be seen in Zion. 8O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer; give ear, O God of Jacob! Selah9Behold our shield, O God; look on the face of your anointed. 10For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than live in the tents of wickedness.11For the Lord God is a sun and shield; he bestows favor and honor. No good thing does the Lord withhold from those who walk uprightly.12O Lord of hosts, happy is everyone who trusts in you.Chapter 85Prayer for the Restoration of God's Favor To the leader. Of the Korahites. A Psalm. 1Lord, you were favorable to your land; you restored the fortunes of Jacob.2You forgave the iniquity of your people; you pardoned all their sin. Selah3You withdrew all your wrath; you turned from your hot anger. 4Restore us again, O God of our salvation, and put away your indignation toward us.5Will you be angry with us forever? Will you prolong your anger to all generations?6Will you not revive us again, so that your people may rejoice in you?7Show us your steadfast love, O Lord, and grant us your salvation. 8Let me hear what God the Lord will speak, for he will speak peace to his people, to his faithful, to those who turn to him in their hearts.9Surely his salvation is at hand for those who fear him, that his glory may dwell in our land. 10Steadfast love and faithfulness will meet; righteousness and peace will kiss each other.11Faithfulness will spring up from the ground, and righteousness will look down from the sky.12The Lord will give what is good, and our land will yield its increase.13Righteousness will go before him, and will make a path for his steps.
