Apollos

Uh-pol´uhs

A Jewish Christian from Alexandria who appears in the narrative of (Acts 18:24-19:1) and in 1 Corinthians. According to Acts, his abilities as a Christian orator brought him to the attention of the Christians Priscilla (Prisca) and Aquila, who gave him further instruction in the Christian faith. At Corinth, he was apparently admired by some Christians as a greater authority than Paul (1Cor 1:11-4:6). Brief mention of Apollos is made in (Titus 3:13).
