Ay´zhuh

In NT times, the name of a Roman province in what is now central Turkey. This province was evangelized quickly by Christian missionaries (Acts 13-16). Paul may have sent his Letter to the Galatians to churches in the region of Asia. The Revelation to John was addressed to “the seven churches of Asia,” the coastal cities of Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea (Rev 1:4, Rev 1:11), and some of those to whom 1 Peter was addressed also lived in Asia (1Pet 1:1).
