Junia

Joo´nee-uh

A Christian to whom Paul sends greetings in (Rom 16:7). It is unclear whether a masculine name (Junias, NIV, RSV) or a feminine name (Junia, KJV, NRSV) is intended, since some manuscripts read the one and some the other. The masculine form, however, is not found elsewhere and may not have existed as a proper name. If a woman, Junia may be the wife of Andronicus. It is significant that the two are perhaps referred to as “apostles.”
