night

The period between sunset and dawn. It is a metaphor in the Bible for a time of danger (Ps 91:5) and sadness (Ps 30:5); a desire for secrecy (John 3:2); the absence of God (John 9:10; John 13:30); the presence of death (Luke 12:20); and visions (Dan 7:7) and dreams (Matt 2:12) that communicate divine things. For that reason, in the description of the new Jerusalem, the seer affirms that there will be no more night (Rev 21:25; Rev 22:5).
