Parable of the Long Spoons, page 5, Marian Wright Edelman, I Can Make a Difference: A Treasury to Inspire Our Children, 2005.
The parable of the long spoons is folklore in many cultures around the world. It depicts two version of a banquet, one in heaven and one in hell. In the latter, guests only try to feed themselves and can’t because the spoons are too long. In the former, they feed each other and thrive. Here the illustrator Barry Moser has drawn the Chinese version of the parable for Marian Wright Edelman’s book I Can Make a Difference: A Treasury to Inspire Our Children.
